Once a year, we are making available a volunteer opportunity
in Guinea Conakry.
The first phase was the purchase of a stretch of
land at Batafon and the construction of six African-style roundhouses.
This is now complete, as is a toilet and shower block, a central area
under a traditionally built grass shelter for social gatherings and
a boundary wall currently being built.
The second phase began during winter 2003/2004.
This is the construction additional accomodation and showers incorporating
another outside meeting area.
These two phases are in preparation for phase three
- we need to build the accomodation and facilities for phase three,
our project with a local school, which is planned to commence in December
2004.
You will also have the opportunity to learn traditional West African
percussion and dance as part of your visit, to learn about the culture
of the region and to visit other areas if you wish.

If you would like to join us in Guinea,
send us a brief letter giving your reasons for wanting to join us
in our work. Please send to our e-mail address which you can find
on the contact us page and we will
send you further details.
Please don't expect glossy brochures - we
just send you information: the aim is to send most of the money
to Guinea for the project, and to pay local people for food, wages
and their medical needs.
